Key Features
Patch 5 introduces an update to the license mechanism to simplify the licencing of servers that are part of a server group. As part of the license validation, the server alias name of the server is checked. When a server is part of a server group, the server alias of the server this the name of the group rather than the individual server. In the past this has meant a unintutative name being used in the licence file and possibly changes to the clients host file. An addition key can now be used to avoid this problem and avoid changing the host file.
Within 7.5 you are able to reserve objects on a Remedy server to prevent other Administrators from modifying them. The BMC Remedy API prevents updates from taking place when working with Forms and Workflow. However Field updates are not validated against the Form reserve list when using the BMC Remedy API. This allowed users to update reserved forms via Workflow Studio when doing independent Field migrations or Imports. Given this limitation within the BMC Remedy API we have introduced code into 4.1 p5 to ensure that independent field migrations check the reservation status of the target form.
4.1 has a new method for generating Panacea cache files. This new version features a .def file parsing feature. When activated this allows the parsing of ars .def files into a cache file, from where it can be compared with other caches of def files or servers, and be used as thesource for ptg files and subsequent migration should the user havenecessry licenses in place.
Prior to Patch 2 there was a problem using the ARS 7.5 api against a
pre-ARS7.5 server. See limitations section for further information on this subject. Since the release of Remedy 7.5 patch 3 this has now been resolved.
